Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building production systems that are durable and highly available. You understand the intricacies of distributed systems and have a strong grasp of the challenges involved in scaling applications across multiple nodes.

Your expertise in Java is complemented by a solid understanding of streaming technologies and algorithms. You have experience with multi-Raft implementations and cluster membership algorithms, which are crucial for maintaining system reliability and performance.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders sets you apart.

Desirable

Experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. You may also have knowledge of governance frameworks for AI systems, which aligns with Camunda's focus on enterprise-grade automation.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Distributed Systems team, you will play a key role in developing the streaming platform that powers Camunda 8’s Orchestration Cluster. Your work will involve designing and implementing features that enhance the platform's durability and scalability.

You will collaborate closely with product managers and other engineers to define requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Your responsibilities will include writing high-quality code, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers to foster their growth.

You will also be involved in performance tuning and optimization of the system, ensuring that it can handle mission-critical processes for customers around the world. Your insights will help shape the technical direction of the team and influence architectural decisions.
