Who you are
You have a strong background in data governance and compliance, with a focus on developing policies and processes that align with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR and ISO. Your experience includes working with data security best practices and ensuring that data access is well-governed across various sources. You are proficient in Python and have a knack for creating tooling that automates data operations, enhancing efficiency and compliance.
You understand the importance of data quality and labeling, and you have experience implementing metrics that ensure data integrity. Your familiarity with open-source data governance tools like Trino and Ranger allows you to effectively contribute to the team's mission of democratizing data access at Canonical. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to work with cross-functional teams to drive data governance initiatives.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the development of data governance policies and processes that comply with internal standards and external regulations. You will be responsible for automating operations related to data management, including data labeling and quality metrics, using Python-based tooling. Your work will involve defining and executing data governance processes that ensure secure access to comprehensive datasets from both internal and external sources.
You will collaborate closely with the Data Governance team within the Commercial Systems unit, contributing to the establishment of a robust data mesh solution. Your role will challenge you to think critically and creatively about data governance, pushing you to learn new skills and adapt to evolving regulatory landscapes. You will also engage with stakeholders across the organization to promote best practices in data access management and security.
