Overview

Cobot is seeking a Temporary Build Specialist to assemble and test their Prod Proxie robots. You'll work closely with engineers to ensure high-quality builds and troubleshoot issues. This role requires hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assemblies.

Job Description

Who you are

As a Temporary Build Specialist, you will be a key member of the hardware team at Cobot, contributing to the assembly and testing of collaborative robots. You have a foundational understanding of electro-mechanical systems and are eager to learn and grow in a hands-on environment. Your attention to detail ensures that every assembly meets the highest quality standards, and you thrive in collaborative settings where you can work closely with engineers from various disciplines.

You are comfortable using tools and equipment for assembly, including torque tools and fixtures, and you have experience performing wiring and harness routing. Your ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues will be essential as you work alongside engineers to drive to root causes and implement solutions. You are organized and maintain a safe and efficient workspace, adhering to best practices in inventory management and ESD safety.

Desirable

Experience with design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles is a plus, as you will provide feedback on parts and assemblies to improve build processes. Familiarity with documentation practices, including creating work instructions and checklists, will help you contribute to refining build documentation. You are motivated to support reliability testing and contribute to the overall success of the hardware team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will assemble electro-mechanical subassemblies and full robots from provided drawings and 3D models. You will utilize your skills to achieve consistent and repeatable assembly quality, ensuring that each robot meets the specifications set by the engineering team. Running functional tests, including continuity checks and basic motion tests, will be part of your daily responsibilities, and you will document your findings clearly to support ongoing improvements.

You will collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, turning evolving designs into reliable hardware. Your troubleshooting skills will be put to the test as you identify and resolve issues that arise during the assembly process. You will also contribute to the development of build documentation, helping to create clear and effective work instructions that guide future assembly efforts.

As the product and build processes mature, you will help scale from low-volume builds to more structured and repeatable processes. Your feedback on design and assembly processes will be invaluable in driving improvements in build speed and yield. You will also support the maintenance of an organized and safe lab environment, ensuring that tools and inventory are managed effectively.

What we offer

Cobot is committed to fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. As a Temporary Build Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotics technology and contribute to projects that have a meaningful impact on how robots interact with people. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds in our team.

Join us at Cobot, where you will be part of a team dedicated to building robots that work safely and effectively alongside humans. This role offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in the robotics field and develop your skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.
