Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building observability solutions that enhance system performance and reliability. Your expertise in Java and Python allows you to develop scalable applications that can handle vast amounts of data, and you are familiar with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS. You understand the importance of observability in large-scale systems and have experience working with monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
You are a problem solver who thrives in complex environments, capable of diagnosing issues quickly and effectively. Your strong communication skills enable you to collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned on project goals and timelines. You are passionate about leveraging data to drive decisions and improve system reliability.
Desirable
Experience with Elasticsearch is a plus, as it complements your skills in managing and analyzing large datasets. Familiarity with incident management workflows and tools will help you excel in this role, as you will be responsible for developing advanced workflows that accelerate incident diagnosis.
What you'll do
As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Observability team, you will be responsible for building the next generation of observability platforms that support billions of active time series and process petabytes of logs daily. You will manage infrastructure across nearly a hundred cloud regions, enabling all Databricks engineers and customers to monitor the reliability of our product. Your role will involve designing and implementing observability solutions that provide insights into the health and performance of our products and infrastructure.
You will collaborate closely with other engineering teams to ensure that observability is integrated into the development lifecycle. This includes defining metrics, setting up monitoring and alerting systems, and developing dashboards that provide real-time insights into system performance. You will also play a key role in incident response, helping to diagnose and resolve issues as they arise.
