Who you are

You have a strong background in technical sales, ideally with experience in software or cloud solutions — you understand how to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and can tailor your message to resonate with customers. Your written and oral communication skills are exceptional, allowing you to effectively engage with clients and internal teams alike. You are passionate about educating customers on observability risks that are meaningful to their business, and you can build and execute an evaluation plan with a customer. You thrive in a collaborative environment and value the relationships you build with colleagues and clients.

Desirable

Experience with Datadog products or similar observability tools is a plus — you have a keen interest in the latest trends in cloud technology and observability. Familiarity with CRM systems and sales processes will help you maintain accurate notes and feedback regarding customer interactions. You are proactive in seeking customer feedback and can effectively communicate insights to the product team to help prioritize features based on customer needs.

What you'll do

As an Enterprise Sales Engineer at Datadog, you will partner with the Sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers. You will own technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, ensuring they understand the value of Datadog's offerings. Your role will involve delivering product and technical briefings and presentations to potential clients, showcasing how Datadog can meet their needs. You will also maintain accurate notes and feedback in the CRM regarding customer input, both wins and losses, to help refine the sales approach.

You will proactively engage and communicate with customers and Datadog's business and technical teams regarding product feedback and the competitive landscape. Your technical expertise will be crucial in technically closing complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge and credibility. You will be a key player in helping qualify and close opportunities with customers and partners, ensuring a smooth transition from sales to implementation.
