What you'll do
As the Engineering Manager for the Narrative Editing team, you will oversee the development of Descript's flagship script-based editing experience, ensuring that it meets the needs of both novice and expert creators. You will lead a team of 5-6 software engineers, guiding them through the software development lifecycle from ideation to deployment. Your role will involve collaborating closely with product, design, and AI engineering teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies into the editing process.
You will be responsible for setting clear goals and expectations for your team, conducting regular performance reviews, and facilitating career development discussions. Your leadership will help shape the team's culture, promoting a collaborative and high-performance environment. You will also play a key role in strategic planning, helping to define the roadmap for future product enhancements and innovations.
