Overview

Dropbox is hiring a Staff Fullstack Software Engineer for their Smart Storage Management team to define and drive the multi-year strategy for storage visibility and control. You'll work with technologies like Java, JavaScript, and AWS while leading architecture and execution across various workflows. This position requires substantial leadership experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on full-stack development. Your expertise spans both frontend and backend technologies, allowing you to build cohesive user experiences while ensuring robust server-side functionality. You are comfortable leading architectural discussions and making high-judgment trade-offs that balance customer experience, compliance, and operational risk. Your leadership style emphasizes mentorship, and you enjoy guiding senior engineers through complex design reviews and cross-team collaborations.

You possess deep knowledge of Java and JavaScript, and you are familiar with modern frameworks and libraries such as React and Node.js. Your experience with cloud platforms like AWS enables you to design scalable and efficient systems. You understand the importance of observability and reliability in software systems, and you have a track record of implementing SLOs and SLIs to enhance system performance. You are proactive in identifying potential issues and leading incident response efforts to ensure high availability.

Desirable

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus. Familiarity with data management and storage solutions will help you drive the multi-team storage strategy effectively. You are also open to exploring new technologies and methodologies that can enhance the team's capabilities and improve overall efficiency.

What you'll do

In this role, you will define and deliver the multi-team storage strategy with measurable outcomes. You will lead the architecture for storage management systems, ensuring they are built with strong safeguards and observability in mind. Your responsibilities will include making high-judgment trade-offs across customer experience, compliance, cost, and operational risk, while driving alignment across the organization.

You will mentor senior engineers, modeling high-signal design reviews and effective cross-team influence. Your leadership will extend to incident posture and prevention, where you will own learning loops and durable fixes to enhance system reliability. You will partner closely with product managers and designers to set, instrument, and communicate goals, ensuring that the technical strategy aligns with business objectives.

Your role will also involve collaborating with various teams to deliver cohesive experiences and high-reliability systems. You will be expected to engage in on-call work as needed, ensuring that the systems you help build are maintained and improved continuously.

What we offer

At Dropbox, you will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and collaboration. We offer a competitive salary range of 391,000 zł—529,000 zł PLN, along with benefits that support your professional growth and well-being. You will have the opportunity to work remotely from Poland, allowing for a flexible work-life balance. Join us in shaping the future of smart storage management and making a significant impact on our users' experiences.
