As a Product Design Manager, you have a deep understanding of customer experience (CX) and are passionate about advocating for the user. You obsess over customer pain points and are committed to making the CX more useful, enjoyable, and accessible. Your experience includes managing and mentoring design teams, fostering a collaborative environment, and developing design cultures that prioritize user needs.

You have a proven track record of embedding within cross-functional product areas, leading design from discovery through to delivery. Your ability to partner effectively with existing design teams, product managers, and engineers ensures that you align user experiences across diverse platforms and products. You are skilled in building and maintaining design systems, standards, and best practices that elevate the quality of design work.

Your leadership style is characterized by providing regular feedback to your team, shaping clear career paths, and developing tangible action plans for their growth. You are comfortable presenting and defending your design ideas to cross-functional teams and senior leadership, ensuring that the voice of the customer is always at the forefront of product decisions.

Desirable

Experience with design systems and a strong portfolio showcasing your design leadership in previous roles would be a plus. Familiarity with tools like Figma is essential, as is a keen eye for detail and a passion for continuous improvement in design quality.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the design efforts across one or more products, advocating for the customer experience at every stage of the product lifecycle. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure that user experiences are seamless and aligned with business goals. Your responsibilities will include managing and mentoring designers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within the design team, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what is possible in design.

You will be responsible for building out and scaling internal design systems, ensuring that all design work adheres to established standards and best practices. Regular feedback sessions with your team will help shape their development and career paths, while your presentations to senior leadership will ensure that design considerations are integrated into strategic decisions.

Your role will also involve staying updated on design trends and methodologies, bringing new and impactful ideas to the table, and improving the overall design quality at Educative. You will play a crucial role in shaping the design culture and ensuring that the team remains focused on delivering exceptional user experiences.
