Who you are

You have a Master of Law (LLM) or another relevant legal degree and at least 4 years of experience in legal practice, particularly in commercial contract negotiation. Your fluency in both French and English is mandatory, allowing you to navigate complex legal documents and discussions effectively. You possess a strong understanding of data protection laws, consumer laws, and banking regulations, with a particular focus on the African market. Your prior experience or knowledge of the telecommunications or fintech industries is highly desirable, giving you an edge in understanding the regulatory landscape.

You are adaptable and thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrating excellent communication skills both in writing and verbally. You have a hard-working and resilient approach to handling multiple tasks and tight deadlines, showcasing your ability to prioritize effectively. Your collaborative spirit enables you to work cross-functionally with various departments to support business objectives and ensure legal compliance.

What you'll do

In your role as Legal Counsel, you will review and negotiate contracts in both French and English, including framework agreements, commercial contracts, and NDAs. You will conduct legal research on banking regulations, data protection, consumer laws, and other relevant topics, applying your expertise to contracts and operations. Advising the executive team and various departments on regulatory and compliance issues, particularly regarding telecommunication and banking products, will be a key part of your responsibilities.

You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of Fintech African regulations, ensuring that the company remains compliant with all relevant laws. Collaborating cross-functionally with other departments, you will support business objectives while providing legal support on corporate law matters as needed. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that the company's operations align with legal requirements, thereby minimizing risks and enhancing business performance.
