Job Description

Who you are

You have 4+ years of experience in data engineering or a full-stack data role, showcasing deep expertise in SQL and strong proficiency in JavaScript or Python. Your hands-on experience with data modeling, warehouse architecture, and BI-oriented schema design has equipped you with the skills to support or build business intelligence environments. You possess strong statistical intuition and have experience running or supporting experimentation frameworks, enabling you to drive data quality and governance effectively.

You are passionate about creating integrations that unify third-party and operational data into a trusted environment. Your ability to design, operate, and scale data pipelines that move, transform, and validate data across internal and external systems is a testament to your technical prowess. You thrive in a collaborative environment, helping teams adopt a self-serve analytics culture while ensuring documentation and observability are prioritized.

Desirable

Experience with tools like dbt, Airflow, or Dagster is a plus, as is familiarity with business intelligence environments. You understand the importance of data quality and governance, and you are eager to contribute to a culture of self-service analytics.

What you'll do

As a Data Engineer at Factory, you will own the systems that power how the business understands and operates. You will architect and evolve the full data stack, designing the pipelines, models, and integrations that turn raw information into reliable, real-time insights across product, engineering, finance, and GTM. Your role will involve building and refining the data models and warehouse architecture that serve as the backbone for product analytics, usage reporting, and business operations.

You will design, operate, and scale the pipelines that move, transform, and validate data across internal and external systems. Creating integrations that bring third-party and operational data into a unified, trusted environment will be a key responsibility. You will also own the entire reporting surface at Factory, from core datasets and dashboards to the metrics leadership uses to steer the company.

Driving data quality, observability, governance, and documentation will be essential as you help teams adopt a self-serve analytics culture. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that data is accessible and actionable, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

What we offer

Factory offers a dynamic work environment where you will be part of a team that is dedicated to bringing autonomy to software engineering. You will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative setting, contributing to projects that have a significant impact on the business. The team goes into the office 5 days a week in San Francisco, providing a vibrant atmosphere for innovation and teamwork. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
