Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building and maintaining data pipelines. Your expertise spans both interpreted languages like Python and Ruby on Rails, as well as compiled languages such as Java and C++. You possess a solid understanding of relational databases, and experience with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake is a bonus. You thrive in collaborative environments and are adept at problem-solving, ensuring that customer data flows smoothly and reliably.

You are familiar with the challenges of managing large datasets and have experience in designing systems that can scale dynamically to meet customer needs. Your background includes working with ETL processes, and you understand the importance of data integrity and visibility in data pipelines. You are passionate about making data accessible and reliable, aligning with Fivetran's mission to simplify data access.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure management is a plus. Familiarity with data synchronization technologies and tools will help you excel in this role. What you'll do

As a Staff Software Engineer on the ETL Platform team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust data pipelines that power the modern data stack for thousands of companies. You will lead projects that enhance the functionality and reliability of our sync engine, ensuring that customer data is processed accurately and efficiently. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address data flow challenges, and you will play a key part in the ongoing development of our core platform.

You will manage a fleet of machines that dynamically scale to meet the needs of our customers, ensuring that data is delivered on time and in the correct format. Your work will directly impact the visibility and reliability of data flowing through our systems, providing customers with the insights they need to make data-driven decisions. You will also mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their careers.
