You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building and maintaining data infrastructure. You possess a strong understanding of data pipelines and architecture, ensuring that information flows seamlessly through systems. Your expertise in Java and Python allows you to develop robust solutions that handle millions of events daily. You are familiar with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and have experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. You understand the importance of data quality and have worked with databases like PostgreSQL to optimize performance. You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems and improve processes. You are committed to continuous learning and are eager to stay updated with the latest technologies in data engineering.

Desirable

Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow management and orchestration is a plus. Familiarity with big data technologies and frameworks such as Apache Spark can enhance your contributions to the team. You may also have experience with data visualization tools that help stakeholders understand complex data sets.

What you'll do

In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of the data systems that power Flexport's global trade platform. You will design and implement data pipelines that process millions of supply chain events daily, ensuring that our customers have real-time visibility into their shipments across the world. You will collaborate with product managers and other engineers to define data requirements and ensure that the infrastructure meets the needs of the business. You will monitor and optimize the performance of data systems, troubleshooting issues as they arise and implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences. You will also contribute to the architectural design of new data solutions, ensuring scalability and reliability. Your role will involve writing clean, maintainable code and participating in code reviews to uphold high standards of quality. You will mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers.
