5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have war stories from debugging complex distributed systems issues. You have a strong understanding of distributed systems and are comfortable working in a tech-agnostic environment, ready to ramp up in Scala if you haven't already. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, and you take ownership of outcomes, ensuring that the systems you build are robust and reliable.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Flo Health, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the backend systems that power our health app, which is used by millions of women worldwide. You will design and implement distributed systems that are fast, available, and scalable, ensuring that our users receive timely and accurate health insights. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop privacy-first features, such as Anonymous Mode, and contribute to tooling and platforms that enhance team productivity.

Your role will involve solving complex engineering challenges and optimizing our systems for performance and reliability. You will participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and help shape the technical direction of our backend architecture. You will also engage in continuous learning and improvement, staying updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure that Flo remains at the forefront of digital health innovation.
