Fonoa is hiring a Senior Tax Technology Specialist to advance their Returns product and support the tax team. You'll work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design while leveraging your VAT/GST knowledge and tax technology skills.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a solid grounding in VAT/GST and demonstrable tax technology skills — your experience allows you to navigate the complexities of indirect tax compliance with ease. You are comfortable experimenting with workflows and implementing AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency in day-to-day operations. You possess strong analytical skills and are adept at country research, return form builds, and documentation. Your attention to detail ensures data quality and compliance with legislative changes.
You are open to both junior and senior candidates, valuing the right skillset, experience, and attitude. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, and Design. Your ability to communicate effectively and document processes is essential in maintaining transparency and accuracy in tax operations.
Desirable
Experience with ETL/iPaaS concepts is a plus, as is familiarity with digital reporting and e-invoicing solutions. You are comfortable with issue tracking and versioning, and you can write clear acceptance criteria to guide project development.
What you'll do
In this role, you will support the Returns team on day-to-day operations, which includes conducting country research, building and updating return forms, and ensuring quality assurance. You will create and maintain country coverage by mapping data to schemas and configuring logic and validations. Your work will help strengthen data quality and minimize manual spreadsheet tasks, allowing customers to gain time back and improve accuracy.
You will collaborate with various teams to ensure that the Returns product is integrated seamlessly across the Fonoa platform. This involves working closely with the tax team to provide a single source of truth for customers, enhancing their experience and compliance capabilities. You will also be involved in documenting processes and release notes to keep all stakeholders informed.
