5+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable systems — you've designed and implemented high-performance services that handle large volumes of data and have a deep understanding of distributed systems. Your expertise in Golang allows you to write efficient, maintainable code that meets the needs of users across the DevSecOps lifecycle.

Strong experience with PostgreSQL — you know how to optimize database performance and ensure data integrity while integrating with backend services. You understand the importance of data modeling and can design schemas that support complex queries and analytics.

You are a collaborative team player who thrives in a remote environment — you communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and frontend engineers, to deliver impactful features. Your ability to mentor junior engineers and share knowledge contributes to a culture of continuous learning.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Monitor: Platform Insights team, you will help build a unified data event platform that enables GitLab users to query, visualize, and analyze data from all stages of the DevSecOps lifecycle. You will focus on developing high-scale, data-rich services using Golang, ensuring that they are robust and performant.

You will collaborate closely with product managers to define requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Your role will involve designing and implementing APIs that facilitate data access and manipulation, as well as integrating with various data sources to provide a seamless user experience.

You will also be responsible for maintaining and improving existing services, addressing technical debt, and ensuring that the platform remains scalable and reliable. Your contributions will directly impact how users interact with GitLab's platform, driving efficiency and innovation.
