Google is seeking a Senior Commodity Manager to oversee the strategic sourcing and commercial management of thermal products. You'll collaborate with engineering teams to ensure optimal supply chain resilience and cost management. This role requires extensive experience in procurement and commodity management.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field, or equivalent practical experience, and at least 10 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management. With 8 years of experience specifically in thermal, electromechanical, or silicon commodities, you bring a wealth of knowledge to the role. Your background includes experience in thermal product category management, agreement negotiation, and supplier development, making you well-equipped to handle the complexities of this position.

You may also hold a Master's degree or MBA in a technical or engineering field, which complements your extensive experience. Your expertise in project management and global supply chain management encompasses supplier and technology sourcing, delivery, quality, and cost management. You understand the importance of strategic supplier relationships and how they impact the overall success of a company.

What you'll do

As a Commodity Manager at Google, you will work closely with Engineering teams to ensure that the company has the necessary supplies and equipment to support innovative product development. Your role will involve co-leading the strategic and technical sourcing of key thermal products, particularly in liquid cooling, which are critical to Google's internal and public cloud infrastructure. You will leverage your industry knowledge to optimize the total cost of ownership for Google's growing infrastructure, understanding that even small savings on hardware can significantly impact the bottom line.

You will partner with Thermal Engineering teams to influence and create a resilient supply chain, ensuring that optimal commercial outcomes are secured from key suppliers. Establishing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for strategic suppliers will be a crucial part of your responsibilities, as you proactively manage supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Your ability to foster strong, collaborative relationships will be essential in ensuring consistent quality, on-time delivery, and proactive problem resolution.

What we offer

At Google, you will be part of a team that values innovation and collaboration. You will have the opportunity to influence engineering design for supply chain resilience and play a pivotal role in enabling some of Google's most advanced platforms and programs. The scale at which Google operates means that your contributions will have a significant impact on the company's success. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
