Google is hiring a Global Commodity Manager to oversee procurement and supply chain management for Hard Disk Drives and Tape Storage. You'll leverage your industry knowledge to optimize costs and manage supplier relationships. This position requires 7+ years of experience in commodity management.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management. Your expertise lies in managing Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Tape Storage commodities, where you've honed your skills in agreement negotiation and supplier development. Ideally, you hold an MBA or a Master's degree in a technical or engineering field, and you bring 10 years of experience managing these specific commodities. Your knowledge of the HDD and Tape Storage industry, including manufacturing, assembly, and test processes, sets you apart.
You possess excellent investigative skills in industry analysis, cost modeling, quotation analysis, and roadmap development. As a Commodity Manager, you work closely with Engineering teams to ensure that Google has the necessary supplies and equipment to support innovative product development. Your strategic supplier relationships and industry knowledge enable you to optimize total cost of ownership for Google's global infrastructure.
What you'll do
In your role as a Global Commodity Manager, you will develop and execute commodity strategies while leading cross-functional teams through the supplier selection process for new platforms and components. You will conduct business discussions and secure comprehensive agreements with suppliers, ensuring that you maintain a high level of industry expertise and awareness of supplier and market conditions. Your responsibilities will include managing supplier relationships and performance in areas such as technology alignment, cost, quality, delivery, and resiliency. You will interface with engineering teams for early engagement and roadmap alignment, leading supplier selection for Tape Storage.
