Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. With 12 years of experience in the design and construction of mission-critical facilities, you bring a wealth of knowledge to the table. Your expertise includes 5 years of experience utilizing digital design tools such as AutoCAD, REVIT/BIM, and Navisworks, which you have mastered over the years. You have also spent 5 years collaborating with cross-functional disciplines, including Mechanical and Electrical teams, ensuring that all aspects of design are integrated seamlessly. Your experience extends to working with external construction management, architecture, and engineering firms, allowing you to navigate complex project environments effectively.

You are a registered Architect (RA) or hold a Structural Engineer (SE/PE) License, which adds to your credibility in the field. You have experience in developing and deploying global design standards and specifications for a large, geographically dispersed portfolio. Your knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards, including the International Building Code (IBC), LEED, and NFPA 101, ensures that your designs meet the highest standards of safety and sustainability. Excellent executive-level presentation, communication, and teamwork skills are part of your toolkit, enabling you to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.

What you'll do

In this role, you will take on the responsibility of managing design and drafting processes, ensuring that all project documents are drafted according to standards and consistently managed throughout the project life-cycle. You will collaborate with internal groups, architecture, and engineering firms to develop strategic plans for greenfield sites, including future expansion strategies. Your visionary approach will optimize efficiencies and drive improvements in the design of state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You will also be involved in the development of specifications and master specifications, ensuring that they align with industry best practices.

Your role will require you to lead cross-functional teams, coordinating efforts to ensure that all aspects of the design are aligned with project goals. You will be responsible for presenting design concepts and strategies to stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is on the same page. Your ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of detail will be crucial to your success. You will also be expected to stay updated on industry trends and advancements in technology, integrating new ideas into your work to keep Google at the forefront of data center design.
