Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development across various programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, and JavaScript. Your background includes at least 3 years in a technical leadership role, where you've successfully overseen projects and managed teams. You have a strong understanding of building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems, and you thrive in a matrixed organization.
Your experience includes developing query processing engines for SQL relational databases or large-scale distributed systems, and you possess a deep knowledge of distributed computing. You are not only technically proficient but also skilled in optimizing code and ensuring your team can do the same. You have a passion for mentoring engineers and helping them grow in their careers.
Desirable
A Masterβs degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred. Experience in a matrixed organization is a plus, as is familiarity with performance and reliability goals in distributed query engines.
What you'll do
As a Software Engineering Manager II at Google, you will lead a team of 7-8 engineers focused on query planning and execution. You will manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and ensure your team meets performance and reliability objectives. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams across the company, working on projects that span information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and more.
You will be responsible for overseeing the development of high-performance SQL query processing systems that handle a variety of workloads, from Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) to complex multimodal queries. Your leadership will guide your team in optimizing their code and achieving project milestones, while also fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
