Job Description

Who you are

You have a JD, LL.B., or equivalent degree and are admitted to the bar, with at least 7 years of experience in legal, regulatory, or corporate compliance. Your background includes advising on global privacy and data protection laws, and you have a strong understanding of the regulatory landscape. You are action-oriented and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with a keen attention to detail. Your experience includes engaging with regulators and managing compliance discussions effectively.

You have a proven track record of developing and evaluating compliance programs that align with legal requirements and external commitments. Your ability to work with technology companies allows you to navigate complex technical issues, making you a valuable asset in discussions with cross-functional teams. You are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in your work and are skilled in project management.

What you'll do

As a Regulatory Counsel, Privacy at Google, you will join a global team focused on interpreting laws and compliance obligations. Your role will involve advising Compliance, Business, Product, and Engineering teams on legal requirements to mitigate regulatory risks. You will manage discussions and negotiations with government and regulatory bodies, ensuring that compliance readiness efforts are effectively communicated and executed. Your expertise will help shape the company's approach to privacy law in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

You will be responsible for providing legal advice on compliance programs and policies, helping to ensure that products meet legal standards. Your work will involve collaborating with various teams to develop strategies that address regulatory challenges and promote compliance across the organization. You will also engage with regulators, including State Attorneys General and the Federal Trade Commission, to advocate for the company's interests and ensure alignment with legal expectations.
