Job Description
Who you are
You have experience with the assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are skilled in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You possess the physical capability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are flexible with your schedule and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays.
You hold a Bachelor's degree or have equivalent practical experience. You have completed the online Google IT Support Professional Certificate program and have at least 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols. Your background includes performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in a similar role, such as Systems Administration, Network Deployment Engineer, or Help Desk Technician. You have experience working within a data center or network operation center environment and can collaborate effectively with teams to overcome challenges.
What you'll do
As a Data Center Technician II at Google, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and testing equipment in a data center environment. You will monitor the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that supports Google's powerful search technology. Your role will involve diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring that security issues are handled according to Google security standards. You will work in a team setting to disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life and perform part replacements or maintenance. You will also repair and fix equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with defined solutions and limited guidance.
