Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 3 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes, you are well-versed in the intricacies of product design. Your proficiency in computer-aided design tools like NX, Creo, or SolidWorks is essential for your role. You have a strong understanding of system integration, including electro-mechanical components, waterproofing, thermals, grounding, and product architecture. Your experience collaborating with suppliers around the world on part manufacturing and final assembly, including onsite factory support, sets you apart. You are creative and have a range of engineering experience that allows you to explore solutions to various engineering problems.
What you'll do
As a Product Design Engineer on the Google Pixel team, you will participate in the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts. You will work in a manufacturing and product-oriented development environment, collaborating with vendors and outside sources to see parts through to manufacture. Your responsibilities will include identifying the root cause of design, manufacturing, or reliability issues and developing corrective actions. You will balance design considerations such as functionality, sustainability, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, cost, and aesthetics. Your role will involve shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through advanced designs and system stack-up from concept to production. You will also collaborate with suppliers of subsystems or individual parts throughout the design and manufacturing process.
