Overview

Google is hiring a Security Engineer to enhance the safety of its operating environment. You'll work on security assessments, threat modeling, and developing detection mechanisms. This position requires 2+ years of experience in security engineering.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 2 years of experience in security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling. Your background includes 2 years of hands-on experience in security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols. You are proficient in coding with one or more general-purpose languages, which allows you to collaborate effectively with software engineers to identify and fix security flaws.

Your experience includes malware analysis, where you've investigated botnet and root-kit behavior. You have led the analysis of sets and intrusion detection systems, demonstrating your ability to monitor and respond to security events effectively. You are passionate about creating a safe operating environment and are eager to contribute to Google's mission of protecting its users and developers.

What you'll do

In this role, you will actively monitor Google's systems for attacks and intrusions, working closely with network equipment. You will build advanced detection mechanisms for various techniques, tactics, and procedures, developing systems to automate remediation. Conducting threat hunting and performing network and systems forensics will be key aspects of your responsibilities, along with malware and indicator analysis.

You will participate in a global operation that monitors and responds to security events across Google networks. Your investigations will cover a wide variety of events from various sources to determine potential threats. You will also engage in security incidents, collaborating with teams from around Google to discover new detection capabilities and logging sources. Your contributions will help improve security systems and processes, ensuring a safer environment for all users.
