Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, along with 5 years of experience in security, focusing on attacks and mitigation methods. Your background includes 5 years of experience in security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols. You are proficient in coding with one or more general-purpose languages, and you have at least 1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or conducting technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

You possess a strong understanding of networking concepts, including protocols, topologies, and encryption. Your experience includes developing threat models and performing technical security assessments of systems. You are skilled at designing and developing new security control implementations, recognizing that there is no such thing as a 'safe system'—only safer systems. You are committed to creating and maintaining the safest operating environment for users and developers.

What you'll do

As a Senior Security Engineer, you will help protect network boundaries and ensure that computer systems and network devices are hardened against attacks. You will provide security services to protect highly sensitive data, such as passwords and customer information. Your role involves actively monitoring systems for attacks and intrusions, collaborating with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

You will leverage your industry experience to own and drive the resolution of complex security incidents, policy questions, and technical security issues. You will design solutions and develop documentation that ensures Alphabet's infrastructure meets security standards while utilizing public clouds like Google Cloud Platform, on-premise physical networks, and third-party hosted software and systems. Additionally, you will build security tools and processes using Python or Go for critical infrastructure protection, monitoring, and remediation.
