Google is hiring a Systems Engineer III for their Site Reliability Engineering team to ensure the reliability and performance of Google Cloud services. Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience in programming with one or more languages, you are comfortable working with system administration and networking concepts. You have a strong understanding of distributed systems and are eager to tackle the challenges of scale unique to Google Cloud.

Your experience includes designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems, and you are familiar with the principles of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). You thrive in a culture of intellectual curiosity and problem-solving, and you are committed to ensuring the reliability and uptime of critical systems.

You possess a keen eye for performance tuning and capacity planning, and you are skilled in building tools to prevent problem recurrence. Your background includes working with large-scale, fault-tolerant systems, and you are motivated to optimize existing systems through automation.

Desirable

A Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred, along with additional experience in managing complex systems. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services will be advantageous.

What you'll do

As a Systems Engineer III on the Site Reliability Engineering team, you will engage in deep technical analysis of our systems, focusing on performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting issues. You will participate actively in the design and implementation of the next generation of our edge infrastructure, ensuring that our services meet customer needs for reliability and uptime.

Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to build and run large-scale, massively distributed systems. You will leverage your expertise in coding, algorithms, and complexity analysis to optimize existing systems and build infrastructure that eliminates manual work through automation.

You will be responsible for monitoring system performance and capacity, proactively identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions that enhance the efficiency of our systems. Your contributions will directly impact the reliability of Google Cloud's services, making them more robust and efficient.
