Network Engineer • Mid-Level

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or possess equivalent practical experience. With at least 3 years of experience in network engineering, you have a strong foundation in MPLS, VPN, routing protocols, and ethernet switching. Your expertise extends to configuring enterprise-class routers, switches, and firewalls, and you are well-versed in troubleshooting network protocols and Unix systems administration. You also have network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCDE, JNCIE, or JNCIP, which demonstrate your commitment to the field.

You are comfortable working with WAN technologies and protocols, including MPLS, BGP, MACsec, IPsec, and SDWAN. Your experience with TCP/IP and inter-domain IP Routing Policy equips you to handle complex networking challenges. You are also familiar with scripting languages like Python and Bash, which you use to automate tasks and improve operational efficiency.

What you'll do

As a Network Implementation Engineer at Google, you will be the initial point of contact for deploying, maintaining, and operating private data networks globally. You will collaborate closely with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, and Field Engineers to ensure successful project execution. Your role will involve facilitating faster and more efficient outcomes for both the business and its customers, ultimately contributing to the reliability and scalability of Google's network services.

You will participate in a rotating on-call schedule, providing support during weekends as needed. Your responsibilities will include documenting network issues, delivering presentations on troubleshooting techniques, and executing deliverables on Operations and Engineering projects, such as new product introductions and software qualifications. You will also engage in coding and automation efforts to streamline operations and enhance network performance.
