Network Engineer • Mid-Level

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, or possess equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP, you have a solid understanding of system design operations methodology. You have worked closely with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment, showcasing your ability to collaborate effectively.

Your expertise spans multiple disciplines, including Layer 1 optical transmission systems, Layer 3 routing TCP/IP, and wireless networking. You are familiar with network design and operations, and you have hands-on experience with tools such as OTDR and BERT test sets. Basic Linux skills are part of your toolkit, allowing you to run commands and manage directories efficiently.

You possess strong communication skills, enabling you to collaborate with various partners and proactively propose solutions. Your thorough understanding of rack layouts, fiber infrastructure, and power design positions you as a key player in network implementation. You are willing to travel up to 15% of the time, demonstrating your commitment to the role.

What you'll do

As a Network Implementation Engineer at Google, you will be the initial point of contact for executing deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will collaborate with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, and Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors. Your goal is to facilitate faster, better, and more efficient outcomes for the business and our customers.

You will work closely with project management and the engineering team to identify potential problems in network installations, focusing on areas such as facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security/access, rack layout, and cable management. You will own network documentation, updating and maintaining network drawings and plans to ensure accuracy and clarity.
