Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 5 years of experience in optical components manufacturing processes. Your background includes 5 years as a Quality, Reliability, or Product Engineer, particularly in high-volume, high-reliability hardware industries such as servers, automotive, or aerospace. You are comfortable with travel, up to 20% of the time, as required. A Master's degree in Quality Engineering or Electrical Engineering is preferred, along with 10 years of experience in Quality/Reliability and Optics technologies. You possess experience in defining and managing component-level reliability testing and are knowledgeable about optical measurement and inspection techniques and equipment. Your understanding of cleanroom protocols and ESD/MSD control standards relevant to optical components assembly is strong, and you have expertise in high-volume manufacturing processes for optical assemblies, including active and passive optical alignment, bonding, and curing.
What you'll do
As an Optics Supplier Quality Engineer, you will collaborate with Suppliers, Hardware Designers, Commodity Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Data Center teams to set and manage Optical component quality and reliability standards. You will drive supplier factory improvements and provide actionable feedback to ensure continuous improvement in quality and reliability. Your role will involve resolving critical fleet and factory issues, leading suppliers through robust Root Cause and Corrective Action, Failure Analysis, and 8D processes. You will develop and implement quality plans and process controls to proactively identify and mitigate risks in the Optical components supply chain, ensuring that the products meet the high standards expected by Google and its customers.
