Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent practical experience. With 8 years of experience troubleshooting and conducting failure analysis, you are well-versed in consumer electronics products and technologies. Your educational background may include a Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field, which enhances your analytical capabilities.
You possess hands-on experience with standard focus area tools, including microscopes, multimeters, and oscilloscopes. Additionally, you are familiar with advanced tools such as X-ray/CT, SEM+ EDS, and mechanical cross-sectioning. Your excellent project management, people management, and organizational skills enable you to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do
As a Senior Failure Analysis Engineer, you will be a key player in the complete product life-cycle, providing insights to the design team regarding design risks by performing tear-downs of prototype devices. You will conduct failure analysis of both development units and field returns, working closely with manufacturing partners and engineering teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Your role will also involve collaborating with the product safety team to identify and resolve any product safety issues.
You will take field failures from root cause identification through corrective action, ensuring that the necessary capabilities for whole device screening and module level failure analysis are in place. Your understanding of factory Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) processes will be crucial in improving any gaps based on field returns that could lead to customer failures. Your contributions will directly impact the innovation behind Google's direct-to-consumer products, shaping the next generation of hardware experiences.
