Overview
Moveworks is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to build core infrastructure services that support machine learning and platform teams. You'll work with technologies like Python, Golang, and AWS to enhance performance and scalability. This role requires 8+ years of experience in backend distributed systems.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 8+ years of experience designing, building, shipping, and maintaining backend distributed systems — you've owned features from inception to deployment and have a deep understanding of performance optimization and scalability challenges. Your familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Golang, Java, and C++ allows you to tackle complex problems effectively. You have experience with containers and cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS, GCP, and Azure, which enables you to build robust and scalable solutions.
You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working cross-functionally with engineering teams — your strong motivation and gumption drive you to complete challenging projects quickly while maintaining high-quality standards. You possess a high level of curiosity about engineering outside of your immediate discipline and have an incessant desire to learn and grow.
Desirable
Experience with distributed configuration management, rate limiting, feature flags, A/B testing, and traffic capture and replay would be a plus. A BS in computer science or a related field is preferred, but your practical experience and problem-solving skills are what truly matter.
What you'll do
In this role, you will build out core infrastructure services and microservices that impact our machine learning, frontend, and platform teams — your work will directly influence the infrastructure roadmap and improve the performance, scalability, and observability of Moveworks' cloud infrastructure. You will deliver deadline-sensitive work regularly, collaborating closely with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
You will own features end-to-end, taking responsibility for their design, implementation, and maintenance — your ability to solve for performance, optimization, scalability, latency, and monitoring will be crucial to your success. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the team.
What we offer
Moveworks provides a market-competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and exceptional benefits — we believe in rewarding our employees for their hard work and dedication. You will join a team of innovative thinkers who are committed to driving lasting AI transformation for leading organizations. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
