Overview

Google is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to develop and deploy AI/ML solutions. You'll work with Python and various ML technologies in Sunnyvale. This position requires 5+ years of experience in software development.

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 5 years of experience in software development using Python. Your background includes at least 3 years of experience in one or more areas such as Speech/audio technology, reinforcement learning, or ML infrastructure. You are skilled in testing, maintaining, or launching software products and have a year of experience in software design and architecture. A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred, along with experience in LLM tuning methodologies and deploying models on cloud platforms like Google Cloud.

You possess a strong understanding of Natural Language Processing (NLP), particularly in conversational AI or text generation. Your experience includes Prompt Engineering and building LLM-powered auto-evaluation systems. You are adept at utilizing frameworks for rapid feature exploration while optimizing infrastructure for low-latency inference and model-serving pipelines. You thrive in collaborative environments, partnering cross-functionally with product managers and customer engineering teams to translate feedback into product improvements.

What you'll do

In this role, you will develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect and interact with information. You will be responsible for managing information at a massive scale, extending beyond web search. Your work will involve rigorous measurement of model quality, relevance, and safety at scale, utilizing auto-evaluation methodologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead enterprise customer onboarding and ensure that product improvements are informed by direct user feedback.

You will design and implement machine learning models and solutions, focusing on deployment and evaluation processes. Your responsibilities will include debugging complex systems and ensuring that the models you develop meet high standards of performance and reliability. You will also engage in continuous learning and improvement, staying updated with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies and methodologies.
