Who you are
You have 9 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or controls within an industrial or commercial environment — you've developed a strong understanding of data center operations and maintenance. Your educational background includes an Associate's degree or trade school certification in a related technical field, and you may also hold a Bachelor's or advanced degree. You have experience working in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, hospitals, or power plants, and you are familiar with high voltage electrical substations.
You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively collaborate with contractors and maintenance teams. Your hands-on experience includes inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various data center systems, including piping and electrical components. You are adept at reading blueprints and schematics, which allows you to assess the working order of systems efficiently.
You are a master of exceptional practices, always looking for creative approaches to reduce operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. Your ability to drive initiatives that enhance facility maintenance and operational standards is a testament to your commitment to excellence.
Desirable
Experience with environmental impact reduction strategies is a plus, as is familiarity with facility maintenance programs. You are proactive in developing strategies that keep operational costs to a minimum while ensuring compliance with global standards.
What you'll do
In this role, you will oversee the operation and maintenance of sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems within Google's data centers. You will monitor and support physical facility conditions, ensuring that heating, cooling, power supply, and electrical distribution systems operate efficiently. Your responsibilities will include conducting regular inspections, performing maintenance tasks, and collaborating with senior technicians to enhance system performance.
You will lead efforts to ensure that all sites adhere to facility maintenance and operational standards globally. Your role will involve developing and implementing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact at the site level. You will also be responsible for assessing the working order of various systems and providing daily assistance to senior technicians.
