Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 5 years of software development experience in C or C++. Your expertise includes 5 years of Linux kernel development and maintenance, where you've tackled kernel rebase issues and contributed to large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems. You are well-versed in Unix/Linux operating systems internals and administration, and possess strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

With a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, you bring 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms, as well as building network software solutions. Your experience extends to hardware network pipelines, and you have spent at least 1 year in a technical leadership role. You understand Linux kernel internals, including virtual memory, interrupt handling, and device drivers, and are familiar with networking protocols and network virtualization.

What you'll do

As a Senior Smart NIC Software Engineer at Google, you will develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect and interact with information. Your role involves implementing and executing testable system solutions, conducting validation of hardware units, prototypes, and simulations for use in Google infrastructure. You will also help with upstreaming and Linux kernel network development, ensuring that Google Networks with Smart NICs leverage offloads efficiently with both software and hardware.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable network solutions, contributing to the overall architecture and performance of Google's infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting complex networking issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring the reliability of network software solutions. You will also mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster a culture of learning and innovation within the team.
