Overview

Google is seeking a Senior Systems Development Engineer to manage services and systems at scale within the Google Distributed Cloud. You'll work with Kubernetes, TCP/IP networking, and technical infrastructure. This role requires 5+ years of experience in systems automation and design.

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with at least 5 years of experience in systems automation, design, and implementation. Your background includes 5 years of experience with technical infrastructure, focusing on deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring reliability in technical systems. You possess 3 years of experience with Kubernetes or a similar container orchestration platform, and you are well-versed in TCP/IP networking, capable of diagnosing and resolving network-related issues. Your ability to communicate effectively is complemented by your experience in managing customer relationships and virtualized environments. You are knowledgeable about hypervisors such as KVM, vSphere, or Hyper-V, and you have implemented identity and access management solutions like Active Directory. You are willing to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.

Desirable

Experience designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-grade storage systems, including SAN, NAS, or distributed file systems, is a plus. Familiarity with physical data center operations, including hardware installation and asset lifecycle management, will set you apart. You thrive in environments where you can work directly with clients to understand their technical needs and provide tailored solutions.

What you'll do

As a Senior Systems Development Engineer at Google, you will manage services and systems at scale, focusing on automating mundane tasks and reducing toil. You will participate in customer, partner, and internal team deployments, which may require international travel. Your role will involve participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support escalations from client deployments as well as internal reference deployments. You will creatively apply your engineering discipline to develop tools and solutions that address classes of problems, ensuring that the systems you manage are reliable and efficient. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in systems design and automation, contributing to the overall success of the Google Distributed Cloud.
