You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable and reliable systems that handle large volumes of data. Your expertise in Java and REST APIs allows you to design high-performance applications that meet the needs of energy companies. You are a proactive and pragmatic engineer, balancing technical excellence with impactful delivery. Your collaborative mindset enables you to build alignment across diverse stakeholders, ensuring that projects progress smoothly.

You have a strong understanding of distributed systems and are comfortable working in high-load environments. Your experience includes mentoring other engineers, fostering a culture of technical growth and best practices through design reviews and pair programming. You are adept at driving cross-functional technical initiatives, working closely with Product Managers, Designers, and fellow Engineers to achieve shared goals.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus, as is familiarity with data-intensive SaaS solutions. You may also have exposure to the energy sector, which would enhance your understanding of the challenges faced by clients in this industry.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Gorilla, you will lead architectural decisions across the platform, ensuring that our core API and data systems are scalable, reliable, and performant. You will take ownership of critical components, evolving them to meet the changing needs of the business while maintaining high standards of security and efficiency. Your role will involve designing and building distributed systems that handle complex workflows and large volumes of energy data.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical initiatives that have a broad impact across our product offerings. This includes working closely with Product Managers to align technical capabilities with business objectives and ensuring that design and implementation meet user needs. You will also mentor and support other engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their roles.
