Overview
Kikoff is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to build the foundation for their fintech engineering organization. You'll work with AWS, Pulumi, and TypeScript to create self-service tools and automated workflows. This position requires 5+ years of experience in infrastructure or platform engineering.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering — you've built and maintained scalable systems that support high-velocity engineering teams. Your expertise in AWS (EC2, ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM) allows you to design secure and compliant infrastructure that meets the needs of product teams. You are proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code tools, particularly Pulumi or Terraform, and understand the importance of CI/CD pipelines for fast and safe deployments.
You possess strong problem-solving skills and can balance fintech compliance requirements with developer experience — your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences sets you apart. You thrive in collaborative environments, treating platform development as a product and gathering feedback to drive continuous improvements. Your experience in incident response and postmortems ensures that you can effectively manage and optimize system performance, scalability, and cost.
Desirable
Experience with monitoring, alerting, and observability systems is a plus, as is familiarity with security controls that satisfy regulatory requirements. You are comfortable working with product teams to identify friction points and improve overall developer experience.
What you'll do
As a Senior Platform Engineer at Kikoff, you will be one of the first engineers building the foundation for our fintech engineering organization. Your primary responsibility will be to create and automate self-service infrastructure that empowers product teams to operate efficiently. You will design and implement internal products, including automated workflows that make secure infrastructure invisible to engineers. Your work will directly impact the velocity of engineering teams and the overall security posture of the organization.
You will establish monitoring, alerting, and observability systems to ensure that our infrastructure remains robust and reliable. Documentation and runbooks will be part of your deliverables, enabling teams to self-serve and reducing reliance on centralized operations. You will collaborate closely with product teams to understand their needs and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that our platform evolves in line with user feedback.
Your role will also involve participating in incident response and conducting postmortems to learn from any issues that arise. You will optimize system performance and scalability while managing costs effectively. As you treat the platform as a product, you will gather feedback, measure adoption, and drive improvements based on user needs.
What we offer
Kikoff provides a dynamic work environment where you can make a significant impact as we scale from startup to enterprise-grade operations. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work alongside a talented team of engineers who are passionate about building innovative solutions in the fintech space. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective and skills could be a great fit for our team.
