Job Description

Who you are

You have a background in mechanical engineering, product design, or industrial design, and you're passionate about creating engaging products for kids and families. Your strong mechanical intuition allows you to make products that are both fun and functional, and you thrive on user testing to ensure your designs resonate with your audience. You are an independent go-getter who enjoys leading your own projects from conception to completion, demonstrating your ability to brainstorm, prototype, pitch, refine, and test your ideas.

Your experience includes rapid prototyping and testing, ideally with a focus on creating 'build-it-yourself' products. You understand the importance of appealing to a large audience by leveraging new play patterns, materials, and price points. You are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated Product Design team while also taking ownership of your projects.

Desirable

Experience in eCommerce or designing products specifically for children is a plus. Familiarity with various materials and manufacturing processes will enhance your ability to innovate and create compelling products.

What you'll do

As a Product Designer at KiwiCo, you will be responsible for ideating and concepting new products that expand our product assortment. You will lead your own projects, which includes brainstorming new ideas, creating prototypes, and conducting user testing to refine your designs. Your role will involve preparing product specifications and sampling to ensure that the final products meet our high standards of quality and engagement.

You will collaborate with the Product Design team to share insights and gather feedback, ensuring that your designs align with the overall vision of KiwiCo. Your ability to work independently while also being a team player will be crucial in this role. You will have the opportunity to pitch your ideas and receive support from your colleagues, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and innovation.

What we offer

KiwiCo offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing you to work in-office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with remote work on Thursdays. This flexibility is designed to help you balance your professional and personal life while contributing to a mission-driven company that values creativity and curiosity in children. You will be part of a team that takes pride in the products we build and the community we serve, making a meaningful impact on kids' learning experiences.
