Who you are

You have at least 5 years of experience in computer operating systems, with a deep understanding of Linux system runtime and networking stack. Your solid hands-on technical experience includes troubleshooting and profiling Linux systems, and you are familiar with debugging tools such as gdb, systemtap, tcpdump, and crash. You have experience with public cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and you possess fluent English language skills, both written and verbal.

You are comfortable working in a collaborative environment and are eager to influence the culture and technical delivery of your team. Your background in computer science and technology equips you to tackle various challenges and make valuable contributions to the team. You are also open to learning and growing in areas where you may not have extensive experience.

Desirable

Hands-on experience with building and maintaining NGINX/OpenResty-based backend services is a plus. If you have experience with Lua or C programming, especially with LuaJIT, that would be an added advantage.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer at Kong, you will work on our proxy stack, which is based on Nginx/OpenResty. You will organize and prioritize complex problem resolution and bug fixes while debugging distributed services. Your contributions will directly impact the Kong Gateway OSS and Enterprise product, allowing you to collaborate closely with your team on the strategy and execution of key product features.

You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems, leveraging your expertise in Linux and cloud technologies. Your role will involve working with various stakeholders to facilitate technical delivery and contribute to the overall success of the product. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and share your knowledge with the team, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
