Who you are

You have at least 5 years of experience in computer operating systems, with a deep understanding of the Linux system runtime and networking stack. Your solid hands-on technical experience in Linux systems troubleshooting and profiling makes you adept at using debugging tools such as gdb, systemtap, tcpdump, and crash. You are fluent in English, both written and verbal, which allows you to communicate effectively with your team and stakeholders.

Your background includes hands-on experience with building and maintaining NGINX/OpenResty-based backend services, and you have a strong grasp of low-level programming, particularly in Lua and C. If you have experience with LuaJIT, that would be an added bonus. You are eager to take on challenges and contribute to the culture and technical delivery at Kong.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer at Kong, you will work on our proxy stack, which is based on Nginx/OpenResty. Your role will involve organizing and prioritizing complex problem resolutions and bug fixes, ensuring that our distributed services run smoothly. You will contribute to both the Kong Gateway OSS and Enterprise product, influencing the strategy and execution of our key offerings. Your technical skills will be crucial in facilitating technical delivery and collaborating with your team to overcome challenges.
