Who you are
You have a strong background in mechanical design engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in developing complex systems. Your expertise in CAD software, particularly CATIA, allows you to create detailed 3D models and designs that meet rigorous performance standards. You thrive in collaborative environments and are comfortable taking ownership of projects from initial concept through to production. Your problem-solving skills enable you to tackle design challenges effectively, ensuring that your solutions are both innovative and practical.
You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to work closely with suppliers and team members to ensure that your designs are manufacturable and meet all specifications. Your hands-on experience in prototyping and testing gives you a unique perspective on the design process, enabling you to iterate quickly and efficiently. You are passionate about sustainability and are excited about contributing to the development of all-electric recreational vehicles that enhance the outdoor experience for families.
What you'll do
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Lightship, you will be a key member of the vehicle exteriors team, responsible for the design and development of subsystems, including the canopy lift system. You will engage in hands-on design work, utilizing CATIA to create detailed 3D models that reflect the innovative spirit of our all-electric trailers. Your role will involve making calculations to support your design choices, ensuring that every aspect of your work meets the highest standards of performance and safety.
You will collaborate with suppliers to select the best materials and manufacturing processes for your designs, ensuring that they are not only functional but also cost-effective. Prototyping and testing will be a significant part of your responsibilities, allowing you to validate your designs and make necessary adjustments before moving to production. You will also be expected to contribute to the overall design strategy, bringing your insights and expertise to the table as we work towards revolutionizing the recreational vehicle industry.
