Overview

Lindblad Expeditions is hiring a Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance and operation of vessel systems onboard their ships. You'll manage a team of Assistant Engineers and ensure the smooth functioning of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. This role is based in Seattle.

Job Description

Who you are

You are a licensed Chief Engineer with extensive experience in managing vessel systems, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems. You have a strong background in maritime engineering and are comfortable leading a team of engineers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the ship. Your leadership skills enable you to supervise and mentor Assistant Engineers effectively, fostering a collaborative work environment.

You thrive in a challenging and dynamic environment, where your problem-solving skills come into play daily. You understand the importance of maintaining high safety standards and are committed to ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. Your ability to work long hours and adapt to a rotational schedule is a testament to your dedication to the role.

What you'll do

As the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and repair of all vessel systems onboard. This includes overseeing the work of Assistant Engineers and ensuring that all systems are compliant with safety regulations. You will conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks to identify any potential issues before they become critical. Your role will also involve coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless operations during voyages.

You will work approximately 12 hours a day on a rotational schedule of 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off, providing you with a unique work-life balance. Your expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues that arise during voyages, ensuring that guests have a safe and enjoyable experience. You will also be involved in training and developing your team, sharing your knowledge and experience to help them grow in their roles.
