Who you are
You hold an M.S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative field and have a solid foundation in data science principles. Your experience includes designing and fitting statistical, machine learning, or optimization models, and you are comfortable writing production modeling code. You thrive in collaborative environments, partnering with engineers and product managers to frame complex problems mathematically and within a business context. Your analytical skills allow you to perform exploratory data analysis to gain deeper insights into challenges and opportunities.
You have a passion for refining algorithms and policies that directly impact company metrics such as profit and driver sentiment. Your ability to communicate findings effectively ensures that your insights facilitate informed launch decisions. You are detail-oriented and continuously monitor policy performance in production, ensuring compliance with regulatory commitments.
What you'll do
As a Data Scientist on the Base Earnings team, you will play a crucial role in setting pay for every Lyft rideshare ride. You will design and run both simulated and live traffic experiments to test and validate your models. Collaborating closely with software engineers, you will implement algorithms in production, ensuring they operate effectively and efficiently. Your work will directly contribute to Lyft's mission of connecting and serving its community.
You will analyze experimental and observational data, communicating your findings to stakeholders and facilitating decisions that enhance driver pay policies. Your technical impact will be significant, contributing to key metrics that drive Lyft's success. You will also support operations by continuously monitoring and refining the algorithms that determine driver pay, ensuring they meet both business objectives and regulatory standards.

The pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $128,000 - $160,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus, or benefits.
