Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building and maintaining low latency and high throughput systems. Your background includes working with near-real-time streaming systems, and you have a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions that meet critical business needs. You are comfortable diving deep into complex problems with ambiguity and leading architectural design efforts to build robust, well-tested technical solutions.

You possess strong technical skills in technologies such as Apache Flink and Apache Beam, and you are familiar with machine learning concepts and their applications in software development. Your experience includes working with various data sources and sinks, and you understand the importance of optimizing systems for performance and reliability. You are a self-starter who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys mentoring junior engineers.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining Lyft's data platforms, which are critical for various teams including driver, mapping, and fraud detection. You will lead projects and initiatives within the Streaming Compute Team, ensuring that systems are optimized for low latency and high throughput. Your responsibilities will include identifying areas for architectural improvement and leading efforts to enhance the team's operations.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand their needs and ensure that the data platforms support their use cases effectively. This includes persisting high volume service events, detecting issues with routes, and creating, storing, and serving machine learning features for training and inference purposes. You will also be responsible for maintaining documentation and providing technical guidance to team members.
