You have 3–10 years of experience in protocol, blockchain, or systems engineering, depending on the level you are applying for. Your hands-on experience with Solidity or Yul has equipped you with the skills necessary to design and implement complex systems. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to contribute to cross-functional discussions that shape the protocol roadmap. You are passionate about advancing freedom through technology and are excited to work on innovative solutions in the blockchain space.

You possess a strong understanding of both L1 and L2 components, and you are familiar with the intricacies of smart contract platforms. Your ability to conduct independent research and document solutions will be invaluable as you contribute to the evolution of the ZKsync protocol. You are detail-oriented and committed to ensuring the security and scalability of the systems you help build.

What you'll do

As a Protocol Engineer at Matter Labs, you will design and implement the ZKsync smart contract platform, which includes developing system contracts and server-side components for both L1 and L2. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to shape the protocol roadmap, ensuring that it meets the needs of various stakeholders. Your role will involve conducting independent research, prototyping solutions, and documenting your findings to contribute to the team's collective knowledge.

You will engage in cross-functional discussions to ensure that the protocol evolves securely and scalably. Your contributions will directly impact the mass adoption of crypto, as you work on a verifiable blockchain network secured by zero-knowledge proofs. You will be part of a fast-paced environment where results matter, and you will have the opportunity to shape the future of blockchain technology.
