Ritual is seeking a Senior Core Protocol Engineer to extend the Ethereum execution layer for AI-native operations. You'll work with Ethereum execution clients like Geth and Reth, focusing on novel precompiles and transaction processing pipelines.

Who you are
You have a deep understanding of EVM internals and Ethereum execution clients, particularly Geth and Reth. Your strong experience in blockchain technology allows you to contribute effectively to core protocol development and EIP implementations. You are skilled in designing robust testing frameworks for execution client modifications, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Your expertise in mechanism design primitives enables you to collaborate seamlessly with research teams, integrating innovative solutions into the execution layer. You thrive in a remote work environment, demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do
As a Core Protocol Engineer at Ritual, you will be responsible for extending the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) to support next-generation compute capabilities. You will design and implement extensions to EVM clients, focusing on stateful precompiles and optimizing transaction processing pipelines for heterogeneous workloads. Your role will involve researching and implementing solutions for state access conflicts, contributing to the development of core protocols, and collaborating with the research team on protocol specifications.
You will also be tasked with developing and optimizing transaction processing pipelines, ensuring they can handle heterogeneous workloads efficiently. Your contributions will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between AI and blockchain technologies, enabling developers to access AI models both on-chain and off-chain.
