What you'll do

As an Engineering Manager at Mattermost, you will lead a team of 6–8 engineers focused on building core platform capabilities — your role will involve shaping the architecture and best practices while ensuring high-quality execution of the product roadmap. You will be responsible for overseeing the development process, from initial design through deployment, ensuring that the team meets the rigorous expectations of customers in mission-critical environments.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to ensure smooth execution of projects — your ability to communicate effectively across teams will be crucial in aligning engineering efforts with product goals. You will also be involved in defining success metrics and tracking progress to ensure that the team delivers impactful solutions.

In this player-coach role, you will not only manage but also actively contribute to the codebase — your hands-on involvement will help you stay connected with the team's challenges and successes. You will lead code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and encourage best practices in software development.

You will focus on team performance and mentoring, conducting regular one-on-ones to support your engineers' growth — your leadership will help create an environment where team members feel empowered to take ownership of their work and contribute to the team's success.
