Who you are

You have a strong background in data science, with experience in defining metrics and conducting analyses that directly impact product performance. You are skilled in SQL and have a solid understanding of A/B testing methodologies, allowing you to turn data into actionable insights quickly. Your experience includes building dashboards and data models that empower teams to self-serve their data needs, ensuring high data quality and reliability.

You are comfortable collaborating with engineers to instrument events and improve data ingestion processes. You have a knack for prototyping models, from baseline approaches to more complex algorithms like gradient boosting, to enhance matching and scoring systems. Your analytical mindset enables you to evaluate LLM-powered agents effectively, designing rubrics that translate analysis into actionable strategies.

Desirable

Familiarity with tools like dbt for data transformation and dashboarding platforms such as Hex, Mode, or Looker is a plus. Experience in marketplace dynamics or search/recommendation metrics will also be beneficial, as will any exposure to LLM evaluation techniques.

What you'll do

In your first year at Mercor, you will ship analyses and experiments that significantly influence core product metrics, including match quality, time-to-hire, candidate experience, and revenue. You will define both north-star and feature-level metrics for our ranking, interview analytics, and payouts systems. Your role will involve designing and running A/B tests and quasi-experiments, ensuring that results are translated into product decisions within the same week.

You will build source-of-truth dashboards and lightweight data models, enabling teams to access answers independently. Collaborating closely with engineers, you will work on instrumenting events to enhance data quality and reduce latency from ingestion to insight. Additionally, you will prototype quick models to improve matching and scoring, contributing to the overall effectiveness of our systems.
