Data Scientist • Mid-Level

Who you are

You have a strong background in applied machine learning, ideally with experience in building external-facing models in the risk and fraud space. You understand the complexities of working with imbalanced data and low labels, and you are comfortable navigating the messy realities of changing behavior in data. Your hands-on experience allows you to tackle hard data problems, particularly in classification with extreme class imbalance and sparse signals. You are a collaborative team player who enjoys mentoring peers and establishing best practices in machine learning.

Desirable

Experience in B2B SaaS environments is a plus, especially if you've built ML products for enterprise customers. Familiarity with MLE/engineering collaboration, ML pipelines, and services will be beneficial. You may also have experience with graph-based feature generation or AI agent workflows, which would enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for building risk and fraud machine learning applications that deliver production ML models in fraud, trust & safety, KYB, and compliance domains. Your work will have a measurable impact on customer workflows, helping to streamline business onboarding processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define the technical direction of ML initiatives, mentor peers, and establish best practices that will guide the team in scaling ML solutions across multiple products.

You will also tackle challenging data problems, working on classification tasks that require innovative solutions to handle extreme class imbalances and sparse signals. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that the ML models you develop are robust and effective in real-world applications. You will have the opportunity to influence the design and architecture of ML systems at Middesk, contributing to the company's mission of transforming business identity verification.
