Job Description
Who you are
You are currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field. You possess strong programming skills in Python, C++, Golang, or other modern programming languages. Your coursework or project experience includes data engineering, distributed systems, automation, or backend infrastructure, which has prepared you for this role. You have familiarity with SQL and data structures, and you understand the importance of building reliable data systems.
Desirable
Experience with serverless architectures and building systems using SQL and NoSQL databases would be a plus. You are eager to learn and contribute to the development of high-reliability data systems and dataset processing workflows.
What you'll do
As an Infrastructure Intern at Motional, you will support the development of scalable data ingestion, processing, and validation pipelines. You will build tools for dataset management, versioning, and quality measurement, ensuring that the data is reliable and accessible. Your role will involve working with large multimodal datasets, including images, video, telemetry, and logs, which will enhance your understanding of data handling in real-world applications.
You will implement automation to improve data labeling workflows, annotation quality assurance, and metadata tracking, contributing to the efficiency of the data processing pipeline. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with the Perception, Behaviors, and Actions teams to understand their data requirements and optimize tiered data flows.
Additionally, you will contribute to the observability of data pipelines by developing metrics, dashboards, and alerting systems that ensure the integrity and performance of data operations. You will also support the development of the Cloud Operations Platform to manage the autonomous vehicle fleet, gaining insights into cloud infrastructure management. Documenting systems, processes, and best practices will be part of your responsibilities, helping to create a knowledge base for future interns and team members.
What we offer
Motional provides a collaborative and innovative environment where you can grow your skills and gain hands-on experience in the field of data engineering. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on impactful projects that contribute to the development of autonomous vehicle technology. You will receive mentorship from experienced professionals and be part of a team that values diversity and inclusion. This internship is a stepping stone for your career, offering you the chance to make meaningful contributions while learning from industry leaders.
