What you'll do

As a Software Engineering Intern at Motional, you will be involved in designing and developing software that enhances the capabilities of autonomous vehicles. Your primary focus will be on developing C++ software that enables Remote Vehicle Assistance, allowing for expanded operations through remote human operators. You will work on low latency video encoding applications and develop a network communication stack that ensures efficient data transmission.

You will also be responsible for creating client/server communication protocols using APIs like RESTful and gRPC, which are crucial for integrating various software components within the autonomous vehicle system. Testing will be a significant part of your role, as you will engage in test-driven development to ensure the reliability and performance of new features before they go into production.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with systems and product teams to develop solutions that meet both customer needs and system requirements. Additionally, you will support on-road testing by collaborating with testing and operations engineers, ensuring that the software you develop is robust and effective in real-world scenarios.
